Excitement is building across our community for the 14th International ATP1A3 in Disease Symposium (25 – 26 September) at La Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital in Paris, France. The venue and the hosts were announced late last year; the full schedule is now confirmed.
Hosted this year by French AHC Family Association (AFHA), this two-day event brings together international researchers, clinicians and advocates to share groundbreaking progress and align on priorities for AHC and related ATP1A3 conditions.

Programme Overview
Day 1 (Friday, September 25): Focuses on clinical evolutions, nosology, cardiac and psychiatric manifestations, cortical depolarization models, and gene editing updates. The day concludes with an AHC Europe award presentation and the official Gala Dinner.
Day 2 (Saturday, September 26): Opens with a session on “Living with AHC” led by French AHC children and families, followed by updates on basic cellular mechanisms, bioengineered organoids, therapeutic trials and a roundtable on the next decade of ATP1A3 research.
AHC Europe International Family Meeting (Thursday, Sept 24)
The day before the scientific symposium begins, AHC Europe will host an International Family Meeting at the same venue to bring together patients, families and patient representatives:
Part 1 (2:00 PM – 4:00 PM): Opening remarks by Mr. Remi Orhant & Mrs. Mirjana Pavlicek, short introductions from participating national AHC associations, and an accessible presentation by Pr. Arn van den Maagdenberg on “Explanation of AHC and ongoing research”.
Part 2 (4:15 PM – 6:00 PM): A collaborative parent experience session addressing “What helps prevent or reduce AHC symptoms?” followed by association planning for future initiatives.
